Information about Pre-ordering Fabric
What does it mean when a fabric is in "pre-order status"? That means that we do not have the fabric in stock at the present time, and we're not expecting it for a while. This may be because the fabric is currently being reprinted (this happens when the manufacturer is also out of the fabric). Or it may be that the fabric is so new, it hasn't been printed yet - or it's been printed, but the manufacturer is not shipping it to any stores until a certain date (on occasion they do "hold" a new fabric, so that all retailers receive it at the same time).
If we temporarily run out of a fabric, but the manufacturer has it in stock (and therefore we reasonably expect to receive more within 2-3 weeks), we do not mark the fabric as being in pre-order status (but we will email you to inform you that there will be a shipping delay).
Any items which are "pre-orders" will be treated as a separate order from any other fabrics you are ordering at the same time, which are in stock. Therefore, separate shipping charges will apply. If you wish us to hold your entire order until all items are in stock, please let us know, by using the "special requests" box in the shopping cart to send us a message. (This will save you money on shipping costs). After typing your message in the "special requests" box, you must click on recalculate or your message won't get to us. (Sorry, it is a quirk in our shopping cart software that we can't change.) If you would rather incur extra shipping charges, but receive the in-stock portion of your order now - separately from "pre-order" items - let us know, by typing your message in the "special requests" box in the shopping cart. Be sure to click on recalculate, to send your instructions to us! If you're not sure that your message has been saved - or if you missed the requests box altogether - just send us an email (be sure to include your order number and full name).
If you have a deadline, or there is a date beyond which you do not wish to continue waiting for a fabric, you may use the "special requests" box in the shopping cart to let us know that as well. (See the blue highlighted instructions in the previous paragraph.)
Since all "pre-order" fabrics are noted by a message in red, which appears just above the "add to cart" button, we assume that you have noticed (and read) that the fabric won't be arriving for a while!
One final word... while we try our best to provide an accurate estimate of when a fabric will come back in stock, all delivery dates are subject to the schedule of the mill that manufacturers the fabric. They occasionally experience production delays, and they rarely - if ever - inform us of these delays. On our end, when we place our orders with our suppliers, we always ask when they expect a fabric to be available, and that is the date we list on our website. It isn't until a fabric is overdue to us, that we contact our suppliers to find out what the problem is, and ask for a new delivery date. There is absolutely nothing we can do to hasten the delivery of a fabric, except to nag our suppliers. We hate to have to nag... usually it doesn't do any good, because if they do not have the fabric in stock, they simply can't ship it to us, and that's that! If we do discover that there is an unexpected delay, we do our best to notify (by email) the customers that have pre-ordered, but occasionally we inadvertently miss someone. You're always welcome to contact us regarding the status of your order.
