Suggestions for Locating Out of Print Fabrics
It's happened to all of us at one time or another; we've failed to buy enough fabric for a project. Maybe you calculated the yardage wrong, decided to make a bigger quilt, or messed up a piece you were working with.
Since most fabric manufacturers only "run" a print for a few months or maybe a year, when a fabric is gone, it's very difficult to locate more.
There's no magic fix for the problem, but if you're lucky you may be able to locate enough fabric to salvage your project.
Try searching at www.ebay.com; many small pieces of fabric turn up there. You can set it up so that if someone offers a fabric matching a description you provide, an e-mail notice will be sent to you. (All the directions for doing this are on e-Bay's site.)
You might want to place a free "fabric wanted" ad at www.fabrics.net . To go directly to the ad screen click here:
These are basically online bulletin boards, and can be successful if the right person happens to read your ad!
Don't delay your search, though... the longer you wait, the less likely you are to find your fabric!
